WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT INVOLVE?
There are 4 types of treatment;
The skin is cleansed and prepared for treatment. Your therapist will decide on the best SQT® treatment to suit your skins individual needs. They will apply the SQT® solution containing the sponge spicules to the skin and massage them in.
Layers of the SQT® solution will continue to be applied until it is fully absorbed into the skin. A warm and abrasive sensation will be felt similar to a strong exfoliation. This is followed by the application of LED Light Therapy & a hydrating & soothing sheet mask.
After your treatment you will be given a vial of SQT® Spongilla recovery serum to apply in the days following treatment.
The SQT® recovery serum has the following benefits;
In the days following treatment flaking or peeling can be expected depending on the health of the patients skin and the level of penetration. Spongilla spicules will not be absorbed but they can last in the skin for up to 48-72 hours. After 48 -72 hours they will be discharged with the stratum corneum that has fallen off.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Before your treatment
It is important to avoid the use of retinols & acids for 2-3 days prior to your appointment. Your skin will be cleansed and prepared for treatment.

After the treatment
Your skin will remain red, looking a lot like moderate sunburn, for around 24-48 hours. Your practitioner will apply a hydrating sheet mask & a soothing and calming gel, following your procedure.
When you press onto the skin you will feel the sensation of the sponge spicules for 48-72 hours post procedure until they are naturally shed away.
Avoid applying makeup for 24 hours post procedure

HOMECARE
You will continue the use of the SQT recovery serum at home for 3-5 applications to help reduce redness and dryness as the skin heals.
It’s also very important to use a broad spectrum SPF 30 or above such as Heliocare® 360 every morning following your procedure and to avoid direct sunlight onto the skin for 2 weeks post procedure. Heliocare® 360 provides broad spectrum UVA|UVB protection for your skin as well as a whole host of anti-oxidants and DNA repair enzymes to further protect your skin.
On day 3 or 4 you will notice your skin beigining to shed and it is important that you keep it well hydrated with a suitable moisturiser that contains no retinols or acids. Your skincare professional can recommend the correct cream to use for your skin type.
You will be given a hydrating sheet mask to apply at home on day 3 or 4 post procedure to help reduce the dry and tight sensation you will be feeling and boost your skins hydration.
